Since 1250

The first records of Le Beau Moulin, formerly called “Bosq-Moulin” or “Moulin du Bosquet,” date back to 1250. Its current form dates from its reconstruction in 1684 by Claude Pellot, then Lord of Trévières. When the village of Trévières was 75% destroyed during the D-Day landings, the mill was miraculously spared.

The 1990s

In the early 1990s, the late Marcel Masi fell in love with the building during a walk. The mill was then falling into ruin; Mr. Masi acquired it and had it classified as a Historic Monument, in order to receive support from the French State for a large-scale renovation project. This project aimed to restore the mill to its original form, completely redo its facade, framework, and roof. Inside, the left wing of the building was renovated, and two magnificent fireplaces were installed.

2020 & 2021

At the end of 2020, it was our turn to fall in love with Le Beau Moulin. We embarked on a long acquisition process, and in October 2021, we left Paris to settle in Trévières. We decided to live there for several months and get comfortable before starting the interior renovations of the building. In parallel, we took care of the exterior, planting trees, vines, and shrubs; we also created a small permaculture vegetable garden.

2022

For greater comfort and out of conviction, we decided to start the renovation with one of the least visible but most important things for our comfort and that of our guests: we replaced the heating system and improved the insulation of the living areas.

2023

Serious work began in 2023: we renovated the dining room to create a convivial space and installed a semi-professional kitchen with the intention of inviting chef friends for future dinners. On the first floor, we removed the ceilings, insulated the exterior walls, and combined two old bedrooms and a bathroom to create our first suite, the East Suite.

2024

We are launching another project that is not very visible but essential, by installing a phytoremediation system at the back of our property for greater comfort. We are opening our first suite for rental.

2025

We are planning to open a second suite, the “West Suite,” with a view of the region’s splendid sunsets. We will also make a music lounge available in the old mill library, providing a cozy space by the fire for those days with unpredictable weather.

2026

We are going to open a 120m² guest house, designed for two adults and two children, offering a splendid view of the river and our neighbors, the Bessin marshes. We also plan to completely renovate the mill wheel to make it turn all year round.
